FAQs
What is Reformer Pilates?
Pilates is a mind-body exercise method focused on core strength, controlled movement, and alignment. Originally called “Contrology” by its creator Joseph Pilates, the method emphasizes precision, breathing, and purposeful movement. While the method can be practiced on a mat, it was originally developed to be performed on the Reformer, a spring-based apparatus that provides resistance, support, and challenge to the body.
How often should I take a class to see results ?
Consistency is key - like with anything in life. For most clients a few sessions per week is a great starting point to become comfortable on the reformer, build strength, improve alignment, and feel progress. Our focus isn’t on how your body looks, but on how it feels. Pilates is about reconnecting with yourself, moving with intention, and creating balance between your mind and body.
Do I need experience to try Reformer Pilates?
Not at all! At the Pilates Room all levels are welcomed. We will guide you through proper form and movement so you can feel confident and supported from your very first session. Though, a private session is a great idea if you are looking for more 1-on-1 for your first few times on a reformer.
Is it safe if I have an injury or condition?
Pilates is known for being supportive and adaptable. If you have an injury or any concerns please let us know - we can modify movements or recommend a private session.
How does skincare fit into my overall wellness?
The skin is your largest organ - how you care for it matters. True wellness isn’t just about how your body moves - its also about how you care for yourself. Regular facial treatments do more than improve skin health - they promote relaxation, circulation, and stress relief.

There are so many styles of Pilates — what makes your approach different?
Pilates today comes in many forms. At The Pilates Room, we focus on refined, intentional movement rooted in the original method. Trained in BASI, a school dedicated to honoring the classical repertoire and the philosophy of Joesph Pilates, while evolving with modern science and experience. This approach allows us to offer movement that is both rooted in tradition and responsive to modern bodies. It is not about doing more - it is about doing it each movement with intention.
